So there we were in our whirlpool suite, smelling like smoke, feeling a little bad about ourselves for all the junk we ate over the weekend and we decided to go get some breakfast. Yeah for healthy breakfasts! We left our room, walked down the hall toward the continental breakfast extravaganza! We fully expected some fresh fruit, some oatmeal, unsweetened cereals, yogurt. When we turned the corner into the breakfast area we were flabbergasted! Here is what they were trying to feed us...
I am not kidding.
Was it time to cry?
The transmission place that fixed our transmission the first time back in Utah finally agreed (after much cajoling by Jared) to pick us up. They would tow a car for us to drive back in and they would then tow our car back to Utah. We had no idea what we were supposed to do for the next 6 hours while we waited. I knew I would have a real problem if we needed to spend the rest of the evening at the ridiculous hotel so we called the chrysler/dodge dealer where our van was and said we would be interested in looking at some minivans. They sent Manny from the dealership to pick us up. He then let us drive his truck to go out to lunch and walk around town a bit. A big YIKES for the town of Winnemucca! Then we went back and looked at "minivans". The only problem with looking at "minivans" was that there were no minivans. They said they had minivans but here is what they brought for us to take a gander at...
Dealer: "Here is a minivan for you....very nice....leather...seats 6"

J and K: "Fantastic but THAT is not a minivan."
Dealer "Here is a minivan for you....low miles, friendly gas mileage"

J and K: "Absolutely terrific, but THAT is NOT a minivan!"
Dealer: "Oh, I have got the minivan for you....ALL the bells and whistles, bling bling bling."

J and K: "Yes, but that probably gets the mpg equivalent to a ferry boat.....OH AND IT'S NOT A MINIVAN!"
We loved you Winnemucca dealership but you only had 1 minivan and it was $40,000.00 and if we are going to spend $40,000.00 on a new car- it won't be in Winnemucca.

Oh precious Winnemucca.....you are the armpit of Nevada and I would venture to say you are the armpit of the country so it doesn't say much for you- except all your residents are very, very friendly. So, thanks for that.

But oh, the memories! Life can be a real adventure sometimes. It reminds me of a Thanksgiving spent at the Seven Feathers Truck Stop....A jem of a place for sure!
Winnefreakinmucca- I think you should write a song about it for their Chamber of Commerce... :-)
You obviously haven't been to Battle Mountain, Nevada. Winnemucca is dreamy by comparison. I've traveled the Utah-Elko-Winnemucca-Reno route at least 50 times, and let me tell you Nevada has more armpits than a hundred-armed monster. Spend a little more time in Nevada, and you'll be begging for Winnemucca.
Love the landfill breakfast photo. What an amazing journey for you guys!
